Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag

  • This year, Southern Wells art students participated in the 15th Annual High School Art Exhibit at Huntington University.  This art show consists of work by high school students throughout the area.  Southern Wells is being represented by work from ten different studentsWe are proud to announce that two of these students have won awards: Alexys Gibbs in Sculpture and Kalel Maul in Painting. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

If you are interested in seeing the show, it will be open until February 21st and is located in the Merillat Centre for the Arts at Huntington University.  There is also an Awards Reception this Saturday from 6-7:30 at the gallery. If you have any questions regarding gallery hours or directions, please see Mr. Penzenik.

  • MORE CTE TOURS!  Any Sophomore or Junior interested in a tour for HSE, Cosmetology, or Culinary Arts, PLEASE talk to Mrs. Rhoton.

  • 2020-2021 ICE & Internships:  Anyone interested in participating in ICE or an Internship next year, needs to complete the application posted in the 2020-2021 ICE/WBL Google Classroom.  The class code is: xmygt75.  If you have any questions, please see Mr. Linderwell.  Applications are due by Friday, February 14th. Prospective students will have an opportunity to attend a career fair on Tuesday, March 10th, to meet with prospective employers.  Students will need to have a resume available for the career fair.

  • The FFA will be hosting a movie night on February 24th, 2020 for any Junior High Student 5:30-8:00 and for any High School Student 6:00-8:00pm. We will be presenting Barnyard. The admission for movie night will be 2 canned food items or a box of cereal. All items will be donated to the Wells County Backpack Program. Please RSVP by emailing Ms. Howell at [email protected]

  • CARAMEL BROWNIES!  Sunshine is selling caramel brownies this week at lunch on Thursday and Friday (2/20 and 2/21).

  • DIAPER DRIVE:  FCCLA is collecting diapers for Helping Hands in Montpelier for families in need. Diapers can be dropped off in the office. These diapers will stay in our community to help families who attend parenting classes or support groups. Thank you for supporting this annual service project.

  • CEREAL NEEDED:  Cereal Donations for Book bag Program.  Help JH Student Council help other students in the community.  Bring your donations to the HS Office or a donation box located around the halls.  PLEASE regular size only - no family sizes.  Anyone may donate!

  • JUNIORS!!!  Senior Trip!!!!!!  1st down payment due April 3rd, Balance due by May 15th.  Pick up information in the HS office.  Trip dates: August 7-10, 2020.

Tuesday:  Griller or hot dog, mixed fruit, baked beans, cucumbers

Wednesday:  Loaded fries, garlic twist, pears, green beans

Thursday:  Sausage gravy and biscuit or Pancake on a stick, hash browns, fresh carrots, juice cup

Friday:  BOOK CLUB!!  Rectangle pizza or BBQ triangles, peaches, lettuce salad, cherry tomatoes


Monday: Presidents Day - NO SCHOOL

Tuesday:  FFA, JH TSA

Wednesday:  BPA, JH Student Council, Spanish Club, Army National Guard here during lunch

Thursday:  JH FCCLA, Sunshine, Navy here during lunch

Friday: BOOK CLUB during LUNCH!

Next Music Boosters meeting will be held on March 10, 2020 at 6:30 pm in the high school music room.

MUSIC BOOSTERS Officer elections were held and the following individuals have agreed to serve in the following capacities for the 2020-2021 school year.  Terms begin in February of the preceding school year. Much thanks goes to Diane Rockwell for serving as secretary since 2017!

  • BINGO:  2/15/2020  Go to the Music Booster's Facebook page. It is the best resource for information about this event.  $20.00 for the first pack of bingo cards and $5.00 each for additional. Doors open at 8:30 am with games beginning at 9:00 am.

  • Like us on Facebook! 

  • Music Booster's Fish/Chicken Dinner to be held on April 4th serving from 4-7 pm in the SWHS cafeteria.. Information will be coming out soon to students to take home about ticket sales and volunteer opportunities.  The event requires a lot of help. And we appreciate our patrons time to the endeavor.

  • Advertising opportunity:  Businesses interested in advertising at the Dinner event may purchase a "sponsorship" from any music student or contact Mr. Haigh or a Booster officer to participate in our program.


  • CONGRATULATIONS NOVICE PARLY TEAM!!   2nd place at State. We are so proud of your hard work and accomplishment!

FARMER BREAKFAST!!!!  The Southern Wells FFA Chapter will be hosting Farmer’s Breakfast March 20th.  Join us for breakfast from 7-8:30 a.m. in the AG Building!  Farmers and non-farmers are welcome to join us.  Come visit with us and see what the SW FFA Chapter has been up too.  PLEASE RSVP by emailing Ms. Howell at [email protected]

  • SENIORS!!  DFS Scholarship Applications now open.  Sign up and pick up check sheet in the HS Office.

  • DFS Awards Ceremony is Sunday, May 3rd, @ 2:00 p.m. at Bluffton High School.  SAVE THE DATE!

  • 21st CENTURY SCHOLARS  PARENTS OF 7th and 8th grade STUDENTS:  21st Century Scholars - 7th and 8th may register

What:  Indiana’s 21st Century Scholars is a needs- and performance-based program that provides students the opportunity to earn up to a four-year scholarship at an Indiana college or university.

Who & When:  Hoosier students who meet income criteria can enroll during their 7th- or 8th-grade year of middle school. Students commit to maintaining academic success, remaining drug and alcohol free, and completing college-preparation activities.



  • 15th Annual High School Art Exhibit at Huntington University.  February 6-21, 2020. Awards Reception:  February 15, 2020, 6-7:30 pm.   • Volunteers Needed:  Mother-Son Extravaganza with Huntington Parks and Rec.  Saturday, March 7th from 5-7pm. Doors open @ 4:30 for pictures @ First Merchants Heritage hall  Contact 260 358 2323 x 2502 for more information.

  • The Wells County Extension Homemakers are sponsoring a program called I CAN! that will teach life skills on a variety of topics.  Each session focuses on a different life skill.  (i.e. auto maintenance, first aid, sewing, finance and cooking)  For anyone ages 16 and older. The workshops are all free but please call the Purdue Extension Office, 260-824-6412, to sign up for each workshop.  Flyers are in the High School Office.

  • Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo:  Nature Volunteer and Leadership Program for teens.  Helps teens explore animal-related careers. For teens currently in grades 7-12.  Online application opened January 1 and is available through February 29. Access the application at

  • Skywarn Spotter Training!  Location:  Montpelier Police Department.  When: Tuesday, March 3rd @ 6:00pm (check in begins @ 5:30 pm.  Register online

  • POST PROM COMMITTEE MEETING: Meetings are only once a month until closer to post prom.  If you missed the meeting and still want to be involved, please email Caryn Johnson at [email protected] or send her a text at 260-417-2306 to be included on future emails regarding post prom.

Caryn would love to have Jr. and Sr. Parent email and phone contacts.  Lots of additional parent help will be needed the night of POST PROM. Please, at least send her your contact info if you are willing to join in on the fun in May!  

Now that the school year has started, why not start thinking about prom! Wells County Prom Dress Exchange 2020 dates are as follows:  Friday, March 6th, 2020 4 P.M. - 7 P.M. Saturday, March 7th, 2020 10 A.M.-12 P.M.  Location: First United Methodist Church, 325 W. Washington St., Bluffton, IN 46714. All dresses are $10 and proceeds from the sale will be given to The Wells County Foundation LiGHT committee.  Prom/bridesmaid dresses may be donated all year long, and shoes, jewelry, purses and accessories are appreciated. Volunteers are always welcome!
