WCPL - Public Library Invitation to Conversation

Dear Southern Wells Community, Staff and Students,

This summer the Wells County Public Library is developing its strategic plan for the next five years.  The library serves all the residents of Wells County (except for those living in the Markle city limits). Like every other governmental unit and business in our community, the library has changed and will continue to change to meet the needs of our community.

The strategic plan process determines how the library can help meet the community’s needs, and this plan will then guide the library board and staff in allocating resources and developing programs and services.  The first step in this process is to obtain input from our community.  The library is bringing a group of community members and leaders together to assist in evaluating the library’s present services and determining what needs should be addressed in the near future.  While the library wants to know what our frequent patrons expect to find with our services, it is also important to know what we can do for our non-library users, business neighbors, human services organizations, government, schools and everyone else working for the betterment and success of our community.

I would like you to be a part of this community conversation and am asking for 2 hours of your time to participate in an informal discussion about community needs and the Wells County Public Library. We have three different days and locations that you can choose from:

If you are not able to attend one of these community conversations but still wish to share your aspirations for the library, please respond to our online survey, email me or write me a letter.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Southern Wells: Learning Today; Leading Tomorrow
Special School Board Meeting
The Southern Wells Community School Board regularly meets on the third Tuesday of each month. The board will hold a special meeting April 27.

The agenda follows:
General K-6 Elementary Instructor
Full-Time Elementary
Instructor Applications
Being Sought for the
2017-2018 School Year.
Multiple Positions Available.
Class Sizes at Southern Wells
Education of every child is the most important part of what we do at Southern Wells Community Schools. We take that job seriously. You can rest assured each and every year, dedicated teachers and staff work with our students to ensure they received the BEST education possible at schools in the district.
Keeping class sizes low is critical for success of our students. Looking ahead to the 2017-18 school year, the district plan to keep class sizes low includes no more than 20 students in each class in grades K, 1, or 2. This plan
also includes no more than 25 in each class in grades 3-12**. The district is positioned to hire teachers as needed in order to maintain these class size targets: it’s just too important for learning and success of our students. Our community’s commitment made in May 2016 by approving the general fund referendum is honored through keeping all classes small in size.
For more information, please contact your child’s building Principal or contact Steve Darnell, Superintendent, directly at 765-728-5537 or 866-440-5537.
Learning Today; Leading Tomorrow

**Some elective classes (physical education, band, choir, etc.) may have more than 25 to ensure the integrity and operation of the program as a class.
