This afternoon, Southern Wells received a bomb threat. We immediately contacted law enforcement, who responded quickly and worked with us to ensure the safety of our students and staff. This included a response from a bomb sniffing K9 from the Indiana State Police.
As a precaution, we evacuated our students to ensure they were removed from the situation while law enforcement conducted a thorough search of our buildings.
Law enforcement has notified us that all of our buildings have been cleared. At this time there is no threat to the safety of students and staff.
We appreciate the quick response and professionalism of our local law enforcement partners, as well as the cooperation and patience of our students, staff, and families throughout the situation.
The safety of our students and staff will always remain our top priority.

If your student has something they NEED that is still here at the school before 8 am tomorrow morning, please come to the HS front entrance. We will be here until 6:30.

Just for more information, some drivers have been able to leave because they had their keys on them. Some drivers are still here because their keys are locked in their locker and we’ve not been able to get back in the building yet. If you are concerned about your driver, please email me or your administrator and we will check for your student here. You can also still come pick up your kid.
We will be here until all students have been picked up.
Buses will be loaded shortly for the kids that are remaining.
Just to confirm and ease minds. Everyone is safe. We are working on getting kids to parents in the car rider line before dismissing bus riders

Friday, 9/25/26, will be an asynchronous learning day for Southern Wells students. Student assignments will be posted by their teachers in the morning and will be available for students to complete throughout the day. This is a change from the original school calendar.
